q: The HomeDock Deluxe manual appears slightly different than the product in a few details. Why is the manual different than the shipping product? A: Due to production schedules, the HomeDock Deluxe Manual (M-99800-070120-A) had to be sent to press before the HDD firmware was completely finalized. A few last minute tweaks to the HDD firmware caused them to become slightly out of sync. You may download the latest version of the HomeDock Deluxe Manual (M-99800-070120-C) in PDF form here.
Q: Where is the “2. Album Art” screen saver as described on page 17 of the HomeDock Deluxe manual? A: See above. We hope to add the ‘floating’ Album Art screen saver in a future free software update. In the mean time, both the Status Bar screen saver and the Now Playing screen saver show currently playing Album Art if it’s available from the iPod. Q: The ‘Now Playing’ album art screen saver goes blank after 1 minute despite my Screen Saver Time settings. Is something wrong? A: The ‘Now Playing’ album art screen saver is designed to go blank after 60 seconds, then on again at the next song, to protect plasma screens from burn in. Based on user feedback, we may modify this behavior slightly in a future update. But right now that’s exactly how it’s supposed to work.
Q: Why does the HomeDock Deluxe Remote use IR instead of RF? A: Like most DVD Players, Receivers, TVs, even the new Apple TV - the HomeDock Deluxe is intended for the Home Entertainment Center / living room use and therefore uses the industry standard IR technology for its remote control. This also ensures compatibility with the many learning remotes that let you consolidate all your various remotes into one.
Q: The HomeDock Deluxe sometimes seems to have a lag time before it displays my iPod’s content. Why? A: The response delay time, if any, is usually the HomeDock Deluxe waiting for information from the iPod. Hard-drive based iPods like the 5G iPod with video take longer than flash-based iPods like the iPod nano. How long it takes depends on how much content is on the iPod and what information is being requested.
Q: Does the HomeDock Deluxe work with 3rd Gen iPods? A: No it does not. The HomeDock Deluxe is compatible with all Click Wheel iPods from the 4th Gen iPods and the iPod mini to the 5th Gen iPod with Video and the newest iPod nanos.
